Windsor Chairmakers
I f
you have taken the care to restore your old home or if you simply appreciate
early American craftsmanship you will realize, why we take the time to replicate
the methods used by 18th century master Windsor chairmakers. We know that
their designs and techniques created chairs that were light, strong and
lasting because their work endures to this day. Because of its popularity
the Windsor style is often manufactured in large quantities. We make our
Windsor chairs as well as our Colonial dining tables and wooden bowls
one at a time, concentrating on the details of each one. This delivers to
you a true museum quality Windsor chair made by a true Windsor chairmaker.
Maine Windsor Chairmakers
M&E
Gummel Chairworks is guided by a father and son dream to have a family business
building furniture together. We want to introduce to you the products of
that dream, our Windsor Chairs. We strive to focus on the natural beauty,
lines, construction and techniques of the designs used in 1730-1840 America.
Our goal is to provide you with an authentic reproduction of a benchmade
Windsor chair for you and your future generations to enjoy. We brand our
name into every piece we make and stand behind our guarantee of fine workmanship.
We believe the joy we have in crafting these chairs is reflected in each
one. If you are in Down East Maine and find yourself in historic Castine
please come to our shop, an 1895 barn in the process of being reborn, and
see for yourself. We are located on the Maine coast just off Route 1 heading
towards Acadia National Park. Click Here
