Windsor Bow Back Side Chairs
The
Bow Back is the most popular of all Windsor side chairs. Our side chair
is a faithful reproduction of a New York-style side chair circa 1780 to
1800. These chairs have a finely saddled, shield-shaped seat with tail brace
made out of select, Maine-grown Eastern White Pine. The legs and stretchers
are well-defined, elegant maple turnings. The riven (split from select,
green, Maine-grown Red Oak) spindles are fine but immensely strong, as is
the bow. The back has nine spindles as well as a tailpiece with two additional
brace spindles. This chair works well with both Sack Back and the Continuous
Arm Windsor chairs.
