Windsor Chairs
Our
Windsor chairs
are built one at a time, utilizing the same time tested methods as the
eighteenth century, master American Windsor Chairmakers used. All of our
chairs are built using riven wood for the spindles, as well as hand-shaped
and steam bent parts.
All leg joints in our chairs rely solely on an interlocking joint called a
Morse taper (legs are joined through the seat in this self-locking
system and wedged) to make certain that the chair remains tight. All of
the chairs' undercarriages are built in compression for added strength
and to allow for the ever changing dynamics
of wood. We shape each chair part by hand and assemble one at a time
ensuring that your Windsor chair will last for generations to come. Without
features like these, a chair's construction is dramatically compromised -
read more on our
Craftsmanship page. We trust these methods so much we offer a lifetime
guarantee; if at any time your chair requires repair send it back to us and
we will fix your chair or replace it with a new one. For more details please
refer to the
Windsor Chair FAQ page.
