Our Windsor Rocking Chair

We would like to present to you our Windsor rocking chair, The Castine Rocker. We set out to make  a Windsor rocking chair based on the synergy of design and history in American Windsor chairs.  Though there is some distance from the traditional Windsor Rocking chairs - simply a Sack Back with rockers and later bent spindle rockers - we believe that there is no end to Windsor chair design and that American Windsor chair development comes from the practice of making Windsor’s.

Our Windsor rocking chair has a large D shaped seat with a very flexible set of 13 spindles, the graceful back is crowned with a bent oak crest and complimented with bent oak arms. All of these features in combination give you the feeling of embracement and relaxation when seated.  Our rocking chair delivers a full, smooth rocking motion - perfect for putting baby or yourself to sleep. The seat is deeply shaped and of a full size to support the sitter. The back is tall enough with ample room for a pillow to rest your head. This chair, though pictured here unfinished, is offered with the same finishing options as our other Windsor chairs.
